AliAlea Productions is here!
“ASH LAND offers an opportunity to sit deeply with strength and vulnerability that we rarely see and don’t think to be curious about…The film goes deeper in 15 minutes than most full-length films ever attempt to go.”
Through the deep and holistic support of Nataki Garrett and OSF, ALIALEA PRODUCTIONS was formed by founding members Shariffa Ali and Adrian Alea in Ashland Oregon.
Ali and Alea, theater artists with a foundation in community engagement took the leap from theatremaking to film production in the summer of 2020. Their debut short film ASH LAND is an official selection at the Pan African Film Festival 2021.
AliAlea Productions is committed to celebrating the pair’s love of the rigour and inquiry of the theatre within a film process, uniting local artists and professionals from both industries. These practices and values include:
Asset-based approach to storytelling
Embrace of bricolage techniques, constructing or creating a work from a diverse range of items that happen to be available
Incorporating rigorous inquiry and rehearsal into a film-making process
Working to cultivate an atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and humor into the creative process
